America’s leading beverage companies teamed up with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation – a joint initiative of the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation – to develop national School Beverage Guidelines.

The Guidelines are part of a broader effort to teach children the importance of a balanced diet and exercise, and have been endorsed by 88% of doctors surveyed nationwide.

2007 Progress Report

The beverage industry has cut calories through the implementation of the National School Beverage Guidelines, resulting in a 41 percent drop in calories from beverages shipped to schools across America. The significant reduction of calories after the first year of the initiative shows industry delivering on its commitment to cut calories in America's schools as part of a broader effort to teach children the importance of a balanced died and exercise.
